Houston, TX – October 18, 2022 - GACC South's biggest Houston Oktoberfest took place on Wednesday, October 12th at Klaus Brewing Company on the north-west side of Houston. The event brought together over 160 guest for an evening celebrating and networking with fellow members and friends of the German American business community.
Oktoberfest festivities kicked off with live music from Texas Sound Check and Axe-throwing. Cheers echoed when the stein holding competition began. If you don’t know, Stein holding is a traditional Bavarian strength contest in which competitors hold a full one-liter beer stein in front of their bodies with a straight arm, parallel to the ground. The last person holding the pose is declared the winner. Our winner this year was Marc Zachrau (Compass RE Texas, LLC)
Attendees dined on soft pretzels, Texas-sized brats, sauerkraut-dumpling, Schnitzel and potato salad served by Berlin Food Factory and sipped on traditional German-style beers brewed by Klaus Brewing.
The evening continued with Hammerschlagen and a log-sawing competion. Some participants "nailed-it" others needed some more time to get the hang of it. But in the end every competitor had a great time.
Thanks to everyone who joined, and a special shoutout to our sponsors Rödl & Partner, eggersmann, American Shipping and Chartering, TALKE, Schryver Logistics, the Hilton Houston Post Oak by the Galleria, Bank of America, JP Morgan, Jungheinrich Lift Truck Corp., and Salzgitter Mannesmann who made this event possible.
